Nutrient Management Consultant
About The Position
Wessuc Inc. is seeking a Nutrient Management Consultant to support their Land Application programs across Central and Southern Ontario. This role involves managing the responsible application of organic material, transforming waste into valuable agricultural resources. It's a hands-on position that blends agriculture, environmental stewardship, and relationship management. The consultant will support existing farm partners and develop new relationships, conduct field assessments, soil sampling, and site inspections for compliance, prepare and submit Non-Agricultural Source Material (NASM) plans, coordinate application schedules with farmers and operations teams, and provide guidance to stakeholders. The role requires regular travel (approximately 3-4 days per week) to client and field locations, with a company vehicle provided.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, or a related field; hands-on farming experience is also considered
- Knowledge of Ontario's Nutrient Management regulations and environmental compliance requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Experience with farming practices and field operations
- Comfortable working with technology, mapping tools, and aerial imagery
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and travel throughout Central and Southern Ontario
Responsibilities
- Support existing farm partners and develop new relationships within our Land Application programs
- Complete field assessments, soil sampling, and site inspections to support compliant applications
- Prepare and submit Non-Agricultural Source Material (NASM) plans
- Coordinate application schedules with farmers and operations teams to align with crop needs and regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance and support to farmers, landowners, and community stakeholders
- Regularly travel (approximately 3–4 days per week) to client and field locations
