About The Position

The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long term psychiatric are in coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana. ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and positive individual to join our team as a Nursing Unit Aide, Nursing Assistant 1 or Nursing Assistant 2! The selected candidate will provide direct patient care by assisting with daily living activities, supporting nursing staff, maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, monitoring and documenting patient status, facilitating therapeutic activities, and ensuring patient safety during on- and off-campus activities.

Requirements

  • No experience or training required.
  • Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) with non-professional nursing duties.
  • Attend shift report and accepts patient care assignments for the assigned shift.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and provides care appropriate to the patient's stage of growth and development.
  • Ensure patient safety by identifying and reporting potential or actual safety hazards.
  • Escorts patients to campus activities and off-grounds appointments while maintaining the assigned level of observation and accountability.
  • Document patient location in accordance with facility policy.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, feeding, mobility, personal clothing care, and daily household chores.
  • Conduct therapeutic patient groups under the direction of licensed nursing staff and documents patient participation.
  • Observe, monitor, and document patients' physical condition, behavior, and responses to care, reporting significant changes promptly to licensed nursing staff.
