About The Position

Responsible for supervision of nursing staff on the assigned shift, the nursing care provided and related administrative and professional nursing activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Pennsylvania State license (RN).
  • Minimum of five years experience as a practicing RN.
  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and written.
  • Ability to establish good rapport with staff and patients.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Ability to organize and facilitate patient care in any inpatient unit.
  • Training in group dynamics and group therapy.
  • Physical and psychological assessment skills (evaluated individually).
  • Ability to work within a team structure.
  • Must work 1 weekend per month.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university, BSN or MSN preferred.
  • Management experience in a psychiatric setting and/or drug/alcohol facility (evaluated individually).

Responsibilities

  • Clinical support and intervention in medical/psychiatric emergencies.
  • Acting as a clinical resource and role model for nursing staff.
  • Monitoring patient care, including wounds and anticoagulants.
  • Coordinating the admission and discharge summary processes.
  • Supervising nursing staff on the assigned shift and conducting unit rounds.
  • Obtaining and relaying shift reports.
  • Completing staff performance evaluations and managing staffing schedules.
  • Interacting with managed care and insurance entities.
  • Entering patient data into the Hospital Information System.
  • Activating fire and disaster plans and working with Security.
  • Overseeing emergencies and facilitating 302 petitions and emergency transfers.
  • Completing supervisory reports and checking census accuracy.
  • Ensuring staff participation in mandated training.
  • Assisting with new employee orientation and job-specific training.
  • Participating in committees and task forces.
  • Involvement in research and professional activities.
  • Leading and coordinating patient care monitoring.
  • Supporting quality improvement activities.
  • Complying with hospital safety and infection control policies.
  • Maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Answering telephone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Assisting patients, family members, and other customers with concern and empathy.
  • Respecting patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Communicating with all customers in a respectful and courteous manner.
