About The Position

Directs and supervises nursing personnel in accordance with department, governmental and other regulatory standards. Participates in development of departmental goals and objectives. Updates and maintains department’s nursing procedural manual. Assists in the selection, training/orientation, and performance evaluation of nursing personnel. Designs work schedules, hours and duty assignments. Ensures all areas and sites are following Joint Commission and CMS standards. Greets patients and prepares them for physician’s examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance within the scope of the nursing standards. Maintains and assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. Handles telephone inquiries from patients regarding test results, medications and treatment instructions as directed by the physician. Arranges for hospitalization, referrals, or performance of special procedures for patients. Maintains a clean, attractive work area and keeps clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies. Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments, surgical trays, etc. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Nursing supervision experience
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS standards
  • Ability to administer prescribed medications and treatments
  • Proficiency in preparing equipment and assisting physicians
  • Skill in handling patient inquiries regarding test results, medications, and treatment instructions
  • Ability to arrange for hospitalization, referrals, or special procedures
  • Capability to maintain a clean work area and stock medical supplies
  • Experience in cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments and surgical trays
