About The Position

The Facility Nursing House Supervisor is responsible for maintaining continuity of patient care in the absence of the unit nurse managers/directors in all areas of the hospital. This role supervises and coordinates activities of hospital personnel to maintain the continuity of a safe and efficient standard of care. The supervisor makes patient care assignments based on staff ability and patient needs, evaluates care provided by others, and makes necessary changes and provides feedback. They maintain accountability for their own care and delegated care, adhering to ethical and legal standards, and seek assistance from appropriate resources when needed. The supervisor visits nursing units to oversee nursing care and evaluate patient conditions, evaluates patient census and acuity, and collaborates with the Resource Optimization Center (ROC) and other department leaders for patient care assignments. In conjunction with supply chain leadership, they expedite the delivery of necessary materials to patients, physicians, and staff. They respond to emergency codes, direct staff as appropriate, and promptly escalate issues through the chain of command. They also notify on-call personnel of impending emergency surgery. Nurses in this role consistently utilize the nursing process, basic principles of effective communication, and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care. They address patient and unit issues using a problem-solving approach and support the organization's mission, vision, and policies. Nurses are expected to practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support (required)
  • Associates Nursing or Diploma RN (required)
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, required for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations)
  • 2 years nursing experience with 1 year minimum clinical experience (preferred)
  • 3 years nursing experience (required for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations)
  • Charge nurse or management experience (preferred)

Responsibilities
