About The Position

The Nursing Supervisor- Med/Surg role is a full-time day shift position. This role involves collaborating with leadership and team members to establish and monitor department policies and procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate patient care, and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes. The supervisor provides bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve patient care quality, delivers safe direct patient care when unit activity dictates, and offers guidance in emergency or complex situations. They ensure consistent use of appropriate communication handoffs, evaluate patient care outcomes, consult with the patient care team, and adjust nursing care processes as needed. The supervisor also assists with the development and serves as a resource for new system and entity-based initiatives, supporting their ongoing sustainment. The position is within a 99-bed facility with a collaborative team environment focused on exceptional patient care and professional growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse with previous experience as a Charge Nurse or similar leadership role (i.e., Charge Nurse, Committee Chair, Preceptor) required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required upon hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training required within ninety (90) days of hire and maintained annually
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Leadership, UBC, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate and individualize patient care and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes.
  • Provides bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care.
  • Provides safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates.
  • Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations.
  • Use appropriate methodology consistently for communication handoffs.
  • Evaluates the outcome of patient care, consults with others on the patient care team, and adjusts nursing care processes as needed to improve outcomes.
  • Assists with development and serves as a resource to others for new system and entity based initiatives. Support ongoing sustainment of these changes.
