Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing degree program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing practice or progressive leadership experience required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal effectiveness required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, problem solving, and computer skills required.
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency (for Arizona positions).
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising patient care, operations, and staff development for their assigned specialty area.
  • Promoting excellence based on department specific and organizational goals.
  • 24 hour clinical accountability for assigned areas.
  • Creating a professional environment conducive to the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Advocating for patient and staff safety.
  • Collaborating with all other Mayo services to enhance patient care and assure that appropriate care is delivered for the population served.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span.
  • Assessing data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpreting information relative to the patient's specific needs.
  • Supporting leadership through activities that include development of staff, teaching, and community involvement.
  • May be involved with hiring staff, staffing the unit and participation in committees and research.
  • Supervising nursing practice within a hospital-based program/unit.
  • Conducting staff performance reviews.
