About The Position

This exclusive program is designed for Nursing Students set to graduate in May 2027, offering a unique opportunity to gain direct patient care experience while still in school. The program begins in Junior Year with an application, interview, and Patient Care Tech assessment. During Summer 2026, selected students will complete a fully paid, 10-week full-time training program. In their Senior Year, participants will work a minimum of one shift per week as a Patient Care Technician (PCT). Upon graduation and pre-NCLEX, participants will transition into a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) placement at one of DaVita's Hospital Services Programs across Connecticut. The PCT role involves providing direct one-on-one dialysis treatment, monitoring patients, setting up hemodialysis machines, and educating patients on kidney dialysis topics, all under the supervision of an RN. Requirements

  • Nursing Student set to graduate in May 2027
  • GPA of 3.0 or above in nursing core curriculum
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to travel locally
  • Must have open availability to train full time during Summer 2026
  • Must be flexible on the final home hospital services group placement
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Complete Website Application as well as Patient Care Tech assessment before interview

Responsibilities

  • Complete an award-winning training program during school summer break (10 weeks, full time, fully paid)
  • Work a minimum of 1 shift per week as a Patient Care Technician during Senior Year
  • Provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment in direct one-on-one patient care
  • Care for up to 2 patients at a time
  • Monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment
  • Measure and record patient stats
  • Perform patient observations
  • Set up hemodialysis machines
  • Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics
  • Work under the supervision of an RN
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes for patients and teammates
