The Nursing Shift Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the nursing staff and recognizing and assisting in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems. The position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in solving nursing problems within established policies and practices. This role also involves assisting the Department Director in developing data collection and analysis for the department and performance improvement projects. The supervisor will develop and coordinate educational plans for initial and ongoing competency validation, creating programs to support changes in nursing practice. They will teach content within their clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development, and safe practice, and facilitate teambuilding and leadership development for Nursing areas. The position requires working closely with Hospital Administration and Medical Staff, serving as an educational consultant to committees and projects related to policy, procedure, and program development. A thorough understanding of Mary Rutan's policies and procedures is essential. This position holds supervisory responsibility for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, techs, receptionists, and related Nursing personnel.
