Shriners Children’s is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist to join their team. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating clinical onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel. The specialist will also assess, measure, document, and support staff competency, addressing any deficiencies. Additionally, they will create, manage, and implement continuing educational activities to address practice gaps and facilitate professional role development through lifelong learning, role transition, integration, skill acquisition, and succession planning. The role also involves promoting and integrating the science of Nursing Professional Development (NPD) specialty to improve practice, and encouraging research, evidence-based practice (EBP), and quality improvement (QI) in patient care settings. The NPD Specialist may conduct, encourage, and participate in research, EBP, and QI activities, including disseminating findings.
