About The Position

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Nursing Professional Development (NPDP) Practitioner with a strong background in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (W.O.C.) care. This role is integral to interprofessional teams across hospital and clinic settings, focusing on delivering outstanding patient care and supporting a unified WOC team. The NPDP Practitioner is a registered nurse who fosters professional competence and growth among nurses and other healthcare personnel. They apply the Association of Nursing Professional Development's (ANPD) Practice Model, integrating adult learning principles, evidence-based practice, and system-level thinking to support onboarding, competency management, education, role development, and quality improvement initiatives. This role involves supporting orientation and onboarding, serving as a resource to preceptors and mentors, contributing to competency validation, identifying learning needs, developing and implementing educational programs, and promoting evidence-based practice. Travel between clinical sites may be required (less than 10%). The work environment involves potential exposures to blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals, communicable diseases, electrical shock, varying floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting variations, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, and shift work. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, may be necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Valid, active unencumbered nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board
  • Certification.
  • BLS
  • Knowledge of ANPD Scope and Standards of Practice
  • Strong communication, teaching, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, LMS platforms, and simulation tools.
  • Direct experience in W.O.C practice and completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Prior experience in education, leadership, precepting or mentorship.
  • ACLS and/or PALS if applicable or other specialty certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supports orientation and onboarding of nursing staff, new graduates, and other clinical personnel.
  • Assists with coordination and delivery of unit- or service-line specific onboarding programs.
  • Serves as a resource to preceptors and mentors.
  • Contributes to competency validation and tracking for nursing staff.
  • Participates in the identification of learning needs and performance gaps.
  • Supports development and implementation of competency assessment tools.
  • Delivers continuing education and just-in-time training using evidence-based methods.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates education programs to meet staff learning needs.
  • Uses multiple delivery platforms including in-person, e-learning, and simulation.
  • Supports career progression and role development through coaching and resources.
  • Encourages professional development and specialty certification.
  • Acts as liaison between clinical staff, leadership, and NPD Specialist.
  • Provides input into the development of the departmental budget.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice through staff education.
  • Participates in data collection, analysis, and reporting related to educational outcomes.
