This role is responsible for coordinating and continuously evaluating clinical orientation for unit/divisional new hires, ensuring alignment with policies and procedures, and incorporating feedback for ongoing improvements. The practitioner collaborates with department managers to select, assign, and evaluate preceptors, and leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of competency programs. They conduct practice gap analyses and learning needs assessments to develop educational programs, and develop role transition programs for new-to-practice and transitioning staff. The role integrates evidence-based practice initiatives to enhance clinical quality, patient safety, and cost-effective patient care, serving as a resource and change agent. Additionally, the practitioner monitors compliance with hospital and regulatory standards, develops action plans for identified gaps, and serves as a consultant, mentor, and educator to clinical nursing staff. This position requires a strong understanding of current issues in patient care delivery, professional development, group process, change management, and leadership. Demonstrated ability to manage programs, staff, and large-scale projects independently is essential, as is the ability to plan, organize, and follow through on assignments. Collaboration with other disciplines, team effectiveness, relationship building, and facilitation skills are also crucial. Leadership abilities, including collaborative, consultative, and coaching skills, are required. The practitioner must ensure patient safety and demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the patient population served, including understanding growth and development principles across the lifespan. The role involves analyzing trends in satisfaction, quality outcomes, and practice excellence to advance nursing practice through educational efforts.
