About The Position
Cayuga Community College, a unit of the State University of New York with locations in the cities of Auburn and Fulton, is a two-year community college sponsored by Cayuga County. Committed to being the community college for both Cayuga and Oswego counties, the College offers transfer and career-oriented curricula on a degree and certificate basis through day, evening, online, and summer sessions. For groups such as high school students, government agencies, retirees, and industrial, business and professional personnel, the College also offers credit and credit-free specialized instruction according to need and interest. Job Description: Title of Position: Nursing Lab Instructor (Adjunct Faculty) Function of Position: A part-time Nursing Lab Instructor teaches and evaluates students in the nursing lab under the direction of the Nursing Lab Coordinator.
Requirements
- Current New York State RN license
- BSN required, MSN or active progress/intent towards an MSN regionally accredited higher education institution
- Current related clinical experience
Responsibilities
- Facilitate student learning within the nursing department's mission, philosophy, and conceptual framework.
- Implement student-centered learning activities to achieve learning of clinical skills.
- Facilitate guided practice of clinical skills.
- Evaluate student competency of clinical skill performance using instructor guidelines, procedure criteria, and grading rubric under the direction of the Nursing Lab Coordinator.
- Communicate student progress to Nursing Lab Coordinator
- Provide technical support as needed to facilitate learning.
- Attend Nursing Lab meetings
- Attend nursing departmental meetings as desired
- Serve on nursing ad hoc committees as desired
- Attend annual Professional Advancement Pinning Ceremony
- Maintain clinical competency of skills performed in the Nursing Lab
- Pursue continuing education in area of expertise
- Use evidence-based teaching practices
- Facilitate learning within the framework of the National League of Nursing Core Competencies for Nurse Educators
- Submit Nursing Adjunct Performance Appraisal at end of academic year in May one year after hired and every other year thereafter.
