About The Position

The House Supervisor – NOC Shift provides clinical and administrative leadership oversight for hospital operations during the night shift across all Mayers Memorial Hospital District locations, including the main campus (Acute Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facility) and the Burney location. This position serves as the highest-ranking nursing and operational leader on duty during NOC shift and is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and coordinated patient care delivery across Acute Care, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Emergency Department (ED), and support services. The House Supervisor supports nursing staff and department leaders, manages staffing and operational issues, conducts leadership rounding, and serves as the primary escalation point for clinical, staffing, and operational concerns during the NOC shift. The role emphasizes system-wide leadership rather than unit-based supervision and works collaboratively with the ED Supervisor while providing broader organizational oversight. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the State of California
  • Minimum of three (3) years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, or Department Manager required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospital-wide operations, including Acute Care, SNF, and Emergency Department workflows
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred; obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during off-shift hours

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the administrative and clinical leader on duty for all hospital departments during the NOC shift
  • Provides operational oversight for the Acute Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility, Emergency Department, and support services
  • Oversees operations at both the main campus and Burney location, including coordination of staffing and response to emergent issues
  • Provides direct patient care or unit support when necessary to ensure safe staffing levels, including covering unexpected call-ins or staffing shortages during the shift.
  • Conducts leadership rounding on nursing units and departments to assess patient safety, staffing effectiveness, and operational needs
  • Assesses and ensures safety, quality, and appropriateness of patient care across all areas
  • Facilitates real-time staffing adjustments, including call-ins, reassignments, and coordination with leadership as needed
  • Provides clinical consultation and leadership support to on-duty staff
  • Responds to and manages urgent clinical, staffing, patient flow, and facility issues
  • Ensures appropriate escalation of concerns to CNO, or other leadership per chain of command
  • Promotes effective communication and collaboration among departments and disciplines
  • Serves as a resource for conflict resolution, staff support, and problem-solving
  • Ensures completion of incident reports and follow-up for unusual occurrences or safety events
  • Supports regulatory compliance and adherence to hospital policies and procedures
  • Represents Mayers Memorial Hospital District professionally when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and external agencies
  • Completes a comprehensive NOC shift supervisor report and communicates relevant information to executive and nursing leadership
  • Communicates clearly, professionally, and timely with directors, managers, and staff
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patients, residents, staff, and organizational information
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, prioritization, and decision-making during off-shift hours
  • Supports a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork across all departments
  • Provides mentorship and leadership presence during the NOC shift
  • Demonstrates the mission, vision, ethics, and values of Mayers Memorial Hospital District
  • Adheres to dress code and maintains a professional appearance
  • Maintains all required licensure, certifications, and competencies
  • Completes annual education and mandatory training requirements
  • Complies with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Wears identification while on duty
  • Attends meetings and leadership briefings as required
  • Reports to work on time and completes assigned duties within designated timeframes
