About The Position

The Nursing Futures Program at the University of Maryland Medical System is a 12-month, fully supported pathway that helps you take the first step toward becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. This program is designed to remove common barriers to entering the nursing field, such as financial, logistical, or educational challenges. Participants will receive support, resources, and real-world experience needed to begin their journey toward becoming an LPN. The program begins in Fall 2026 and requires participants to engage in classroom learning and on-the-job training, build foundational clinical and patient care skills, and work alongside care teams in a hospital setting.

Requirements

  • Currently employed as a Patient Care Tech, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Medical Assistant at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center
  • Is in good performance standing and not currently on a final written warning
  • Is currently employed in a .5 FTE role or above
  • Has worked for UMMS for at least six months
  • Ability to commit to the full 12-month program
  • Strong desire to work in an inpatient LPN role
