This full-time faculty position is a nine-month position, requiring a presence on campus with the faculty member’s primary efforts focused on teaching and learning, academic excellence and student success. Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing learning strategies for students in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). In addition, ADN and PNE programs are approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON). This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree from an accredited institution; or Baccalaureate in nursing from an accredited institution and commitment to obtain a graduate degree within 5 (five) years
  • Prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment.
  • Active unenc Roku unencumbered license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina
  • Minimum of two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time experience as a registered nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • Community College teaching experience in a PNE program
  • Experience using a Learning Management System, such as Canvas, to deliver course content
  • Experience with simulation

Responsibilities

  • Promote Davidson-Davie mission, vision and values
  • Teach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to day, evening, weekend, and online
  • Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
  • Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback
  • Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the learning environment(s) to meet program needs
  • Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
  • Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning
  • Assist in the evaluation of courses and programs
  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills
  • Attend appropriate internal and external meetings
  • Assist in student recruitment and retention
  • Maintain accessibility to students, faculty and staff
  • Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.
