About The Position

Denver College of Nursing is seeking a Regular, Full-Time Faculty member at the Assistant Professor level. This role involves facilitating learning, fostering student development and socialization, utilizing assessment strategies, participating in curriculum design and program evaluation, acting as a change agent and leader, pursuing continuous quality improvement, engaging in scholarship, and functioning effectively within the educational and community environment. The position reports to the appropriate Program Director (ADN or BSN).

Requirements

A minimum of a master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
Current unencumbered Colorado license as a registered nurse.
Current CPR certification as a healthcare provider.
Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Current clinical nursing knowledge within area of specialty and ongoing maintenance of clinical competency.
Minimum of three years of recent clinical experience in area of specialty.
Documented knowledge of education, instructional delivery, and adult learning required.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through learning technologies such as computers and e-mail.
Ability to work effectively with clinical agencies, staff, faculty, and students as a member of the team.

Nice To Haves

National certification in area of clinical specialty is preferred.
One year teaching professional nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

Facilitate student learning in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
Help students develop as nurses and integrate expected values and behaviors.
Use various strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in all domains.
Formulate program outcomes and design curricula reflecting healthcare trends.
Act as change agents and leaders in nursing education and practice, potentially mentoring new faculty.
Commit to ongoing development and lifelong learning in the educator role.
Engage in scholarship, recognizing teaching as a scholarly activity.
Understand the educational environment and the impact of external forces.
Teach classroom and clinical courses and provide guidance to students.
Adhere to all Denver College of Nursing policies and procedures.
Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program philosophy and objectives.
Participate in the construction, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the curriculum.
Provide academic advising to students.
Serve as a positive role model and provide positive feedback to students.
Oversee adjunct faculty teaching clinical rotations.
Maintain detailed attention to academic assessment, attendance records, grades, and reporting of issues.
Attend all assigned classes, clinical, or lab sessions.
Adhere to the course syllabus, content, schedule, and textbook use.
Attend and participate in faculty and staff meetings.
Assess student learning in terms of course and program objectives.
Participate in reviewing and revising program policies and procedures.
Participate in peer evaluation.
Initiate periodic self-evaluation, clinical competence assessment, and professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
