About The Position

Sullivan University is seeking a full-time Nursing faculty member for its Louisville Campus. As a faculty member, you will be part of the University's teaching staff, reporting to the Dean, with a potential dotted line to a Department/Program Director or General Education Chair. You will be a student-centered mentor, guiding students through their academic programs to completion. The role encompasses instruction and assessment of student learning, scholarship and professional development, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • MSN required.
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a registered nurse.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with active teaching methods and use of teaching technologies including AI.
  • Must possess excellent leadership, customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines.
  • Ability to function efficiently in a stressful work environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include evenings, weekends, and travel to multiple locations as dictated by the course schedule.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, as well as to move about the campus.
  • Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face to face, via the telephone, and through electronic medium.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student learning within face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid environments.
  • Deliver effective and career-relevant instruction.
  • Provide an environment conducive to learning.
  • Evaluate student learning for all assigned classes.
  • Respond to student inquiries and grade assignments in a timely manner.
  • Engage students using various instructional techniques (e.g., collaborative learning, experiential learning, problem-based learning).
  • Deliver course curriculum utilizing the University’s learning management system.
  • Participate in course and program level learning assessments, including defining student learning outcomes, administering measures, evaluating student performance, and suggesting improvements.
  • Participate in the development and revision of course maps and materials, including Open Educational Resources (OER).
  • Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, externship, observation, field experience, and similar settings.
  • Participate in student retention efforts by reaching out to students with excessive absences and documenting retention activities.
  • Communicate availability (e.g., office hours) to all students via email, phone, or other personal contact.
  • Participate in the annual faculty performance review process.
  • Participate in the University’s Professional Development Program.
  • Remain current in academic or program discipline, including attending professional conferences and maintaining licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements.
  • Receive training to stay current in technological and pedagogical advances.
  • Participate in scholarly activities (Graduate School faculty requirement only).
  • Report all professional development activities.
  • Adhere to all policies related to instruction, teaching, and employment.
  • Accurately record and report student attendance.
  • Submit grade books in the correct format and by the required due date.
  • Complete all required and mandated compliance training.
  • Submit an updated curricula vitae/resume annually.
  • Participate in graduation ceremonies as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
