About The Position

At the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), you will help drive how nurses learn, grow, and deliver care across inpatient rehabilitation. This highly visible role goes beyond traditional education-it focuses on improving consistency, strengthening clinical thinking, and aligning education with real patient outcomes. You'll partner closely with leaders, clinicians, and interdisciplinary teams to elevate onboarding, competency, and ongoing development across the organization.

Requirements

  • Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • 5+ years of recent clinical experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, medical ‑ surgical , or critical care settings.
  • Strong communication , teaching, critical thinking, and clinical assessment skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft 365.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing , Education, or related field (MSN/Ed).
  • Experience in NPD, clinical education, staff development, or preceptorship.
  • Familiarity with competency validation frameworks and adult learning principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and continuously improve nursing education programs that support onboarding, ongoing competency, and clinical excellence
  • Lead onboarding and development across nursing roles (RNs, LPNs, NRTs, Unit Secretaries, Admission Nurses, Wound Nurses, and Resource Pool), ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience
  • Partner with Preceptors and Clinical Charge Nurses to strengthen onboarding, clinical readiness, and staff development
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate annual competencies, equipment rollouts, policy updates, and required education
  • Align education and competencies with patient population needs, safety data, quality metrics, and professional standards
  • Ensure all educational content meets Joint Commission, CARF, CMS (IRF), and state regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to drive education aligned to operational priorities and patient care needs
  • Support integration of evidence-based practice and contribute to nursing research initiatives
  • Lead or support hospital-wide efforts related to professional development, patient safety, quality improvement, and practice transformation
