About The Position

Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises programs of orientation, in-service training, workshops, and continuing education to meet educational and developmental needs of staff. Takes a lead role in educational initiatives to ensure quality patient care and customer satisfaction. Serves as a leader in the development, training, and monitoring of nursing practice standards. Acts as a resource and liaison to the Atlantic Health community by serving on hospital wide committees or task forces. Performs a range of nursing, clinical, consultative, educational, and research activities within established area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Use the Educational design process to plan, implement and evaluate educational initiatives to address practice gaps for identified target audiences, which may include licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel. These initiatives are developed to achieve specific outcomes related to identified opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill and/or practice.
  • Use knowledge and skills identified in the ANPD scope and standards of practice to evaluate how educational initiatives enhance the professional development of nurses and other healthcare personnel
  • Support ongoing assessment and evaluation of Team Member performance. Responsible for measuring, documenting, and supporting competency and for addressing any deficiencies in staff members’ competence.
  • Create an individualized orientation plan to guide new hires toward job competency. Develop, coordinate, manage, facilitate, conduct and evaluate onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
  • Participate in research, evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives. Researches, recommends, implements and evaluates policies and standards. Acts as a resource to hospital committees by providing input regarding identified problems and practice issues, developmental and problem-solving strategies.
  • Foster interprofessional collaboration to work jointly towards common goals to provide the highest quality of care. Participate in committees and task forces as appropriate.
  • Support identification and application of strategies to facilitate continuous growth through ongoing professional learning. Assist others in their professional role development, practice role transitions and succession planning. Coach, coordinate, facilitate, conduct and evaluate activities that promote professional role development and role transition.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational regulatory agencies and hospital standards.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations promptly and initiate appropriate emergency protocols and procedures effectively. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in using emergency equipment and ensure team members demonstrate competency. Work cooperatively with team members during emergencies. Appropriately uses the emergency clinical codes.
