About The Position

This is a 100% FTE position for a Nursing Education Specialist with expertise in inpatient general care nursing. The role involves leading onboarding and professional development for Registered Nurses (RNs), Nursing Assistants (NAs), and Student Nurse Assistants (SNAs) across inpatient general care units and float pools at a Level I Trauma academic medical center. The specialist will assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs focused on general care and foundational clinical skills to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. This includes supporting a dynamic float pool that covers approximately 20 inpatient units, as well as educational needs for procedural RN teams and virtual nursing models. The role requires collaboration with nursing leaders and interdisciplinary teams to align education with unit workflows, patient needs, and operational priorities, including high-throughput areas like short stay, observation units, and the internal discharge lounge. The specialist will act as a clinical education resource, promoting competency validation, evidence-based practice, and care consistency across various units. Participation in system-wide education initiatives and NES responsibilities is expected. Ideal candidates will have strong inpatient nursing experience and a passion for teaching in fast-paced environments.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
  • Basic Life Support BLS/CPR certification Upon Hire
  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience with position specific patient population Preferred
  • 3 years of experience providing orientation and education for nursing staff in clinical setting Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a clinical education resource, promoting competency validation, evidence-based practice, and consistency in care delivery across multiple units.
