Nursing Education & Simulation Specialist
About The Position
This role is responsible for supporting nursing students in their academic journey and NCLEX-RN exam preparation. The specialist will partner with academic leadership, faculty, and staff to provide targeted support and individualized coaching. This includes assessing learning styles, reinforcing key concepts, and designing personalized remediation plans to build student confidence and clinical competence. Additionally, the specialist will manage the daily operations of the campus simulation lab, supporting approximately 300-350 learners and ensuring high-quality simulation-based learning experiences aligned with curriculum and academic outcomes. The individual must operate with a high level of independence, organization, and flexibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
- Active, unencumbered RN license
- BLS CPR certification required
- BLS CPR Instructor certification required
Nice To Haves
- Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- ACLS and/or PALS certification preferred
- 1+ year experience supporting classroom instruction or tutoring in an academic environment is preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across phone, virtual, and in-person settings
- Analytical thinking with effective problem-solving ability
- High attention to detail, including proofreading accuracy
- Ability to collaborate with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Team-oriented with a collaborative, knowledge-sharing mindset
Responsibilities
- Work with students individually and in small groups to assess learning styles, identify strengths, and uncover opportunities for academic development.
- Provide individual or group tutoring to reinforce key concepts.
- Participate in outreach to students with at-risk referrals.
- Create and implement personalized remediation plans to support academic and professional success.
- Demonstrate current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN, as well as current nursing practice, to provide academic support.
- Assist in the creation of Next Generation NCLEX activities and workshops.
- Facilitate simulation-based experiences (SBE) and lab activities, including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, set-up, and clean-up.
- Assist in developing and implementing detailed, clinically based scenarios for simulated learning, including the use of high-fidelity patient simulators.
- Coordinate and supervise lab experiences to ensure students have the opportunity to meet course objectives.
- Staff open lab sessions and provide individual oversight to students during practice and/or remediation of technical nursing skills, as required by course objectives.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic partners, and staff to support student success.
- Communicate and document (report) students’ academic and co-curricular progress toward achievement of student and program learning outcomes to academic leadership (e.g., retention committee).
- Demonstrate service excellence through friendliness, courtesy, professionalism, effective communication, and a commitment to first-class service for students, team members, and external partners.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Scheduling flexibility required, including evening and weekend hours to support campus and student needs.
