About The Position

A leading acute care hospital in West Palm Beach is seeking an experienced Nursing Director – Behavioral Health to lead and oversee operations within a large inpatient behavioral health department. This leadership role is responsible for driving clinical excellence, improving patient outcomes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing staff performance in a multidisciplinary environment. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and hands-on leader with a strong background in behavioral health and acute care settings, capable of managing complex operations while fostering a culture of quality and safety.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Behavioral Health, OR Nurse Manager with 5+ years of acute care experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Willingness to obtain a Master’s degree within 6 months of hire
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health operations in an acute care setting
  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience managing teams in hospital or inpatient psychiatric settings
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated healthcare environment

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Experience in large hospital systems or multi-unit behavioral health departments
  • Strong background in quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for daily operations of the Behavioral Health department
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental goals, policies, and performance standards
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and regulatory compliance efforts
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and workforce management to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Monitor departmental budgets, productivity, and resource utilization
  • Drive patient satisfaction and positive care outcomes
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, staff, and executive leadership
  • Support staff development through training, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance behavioral health services
  • Lead strategic initiatives to improve operational efficiency and clinical performance
