About The Position

The Nursing Director provides accountability for the unit or program and operationalizes the core values of the organization by developing and sustaining an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice and the care of patients. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by an Accountable Nurse Leader to the department. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking a visionary nursing leader to serve as a strategic resource across our growing ambulatory enterprise. This highly visible leadership role offers the opportunity to influence nursing practice, professional development, care coordination, population health initiatives, regulatory readiness, and clinical excellence across outpatient services. While this role has no direct reports, it carries significant organizational influence through partnerships with Nursing Directors, operational leaders, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams throughout the ambulatory network.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • 3-5 years of related leadership experience
  • Experience in ambulatory services, care coordination, population health, professional practice, quality, or nursing operations

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for ambulatory nursing services, program development, and clinical practice excellence.
  • Serve as the nursing content expert for care coordination, transition of care, population health, and community health initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee nursing and clinical staff competencies, education, and professional practice standards.
  • Lead ambulatory regulatory readiness efforts, including policy development, review, and implementation.
  • Partner with operational and clinical leaders to improve patient outcomes, care delivery, and service excellence.
  • Support new program development, clinical expansion efforts, and ambulatory practice transformation initiatives.
  • Provide interim nursing leadership support across ambulatory sites as needed.
  • Lead assigned service line nursing initiatives and professional practice programs.
  • Manage departmental budget planning, monitoring, and financial stewardship.
