About The Position

The University of Jamestown is now accepting applications for a Nursing Clinical Instructor. This position supports student success by instructing clinical practice for ASN and DEMSN students on a variety of units including specialty units (ICU, FBC, Peds Cluster, Psych, Med-surg, etc). Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing required.
• Current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Dakota required , or ability to obtain prior to start date.
• Current CPR certification required.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of one year of recent clinical practice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clinical and laboratory teaching
• Collaborate with Clinical Coordinator and didactic faculty to provide clinical instruction that supports attainment of course and program learning outcomes.
• Evaluates student performance through direct observation, assessment of clinical competencies, and review of written assignments.
• Facilitates pre clinical preparation and post clinical debriefing to reinforce learning and promote reflective practice.
• Guides students in maintaining accurate and timely Client Category Logs in accordance with program and accreditation requirements.
• Student Evaluation and academic support
• Complete clinical evaluation tools, anecdotal notes, skills competencies, and grade components by published deadlines.
• Base judgments on observed performance, not reputation.
• Give timely, specific feedback.
• Document unsafe practice, no-call/no-show, dress-code, or professionalism issues the same day and notify the course faculty of record.
• Refer students to academic support, counseling, disability services, or the Program Director when performance or well-being is a concern.
• Maintain FERPA and HIPAA.
• Do not discuss student performance with unit staff beyond what is needed for safe assignment and supervision.
• Participates in simulation-based learning experiences when not scheduled for clinical instruction.
• Agency and program partnership
• Maintains professional communication and relationships with clinical partners to support high-quality learning environments.
• Communicate schedule changes, census problems, or site concerns to the course faculty promptly so an alternate learning plan can be arranged.
• Participate in clinical faculty meetings, course orientation, and end-of-term evaluation standards.
• Contribute to program assessment, curriculum conversations, and North Dakota Board of Nursing or accreditation evidence as requested.
• Professional Practice and other duties
• Expectation to maintain availability that aligns with program scheduling needs, including variable shifts and weekends.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
