Temporary part-time opportunities are available for up to (6) months. As a Nursing Clinical Extern (Student Clinical Nurse) at Mount Sinai Hospital, you'll gain invaluable hands-on experience in a clinical setting. Apply your theoretical knowledge, enhance your critical thinking skills, gain confidence in patient care and develop essential clinical skills alongside a supportive team. This is your chance to make a tangible difference in patient care while solidifying your understanding of the nursing profession before graduation. This role provides ample opportunity to not just apply your existing knowledge, but to continuously expand it. You'll be exposed to a variety of clinical scenarios, observe diverse procedures, and develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills in real-time. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in professional development workshops such as peripheral IV insertion, GPA training, wound care, breastfeeding and safe patient handling. This role is perfect for a student eager to actively shape their future nursing career by gaining experience beyond the classroom. We offer Clinical Extern opportunities within Women’s and Infants’ Health (Mother Baby and Antenatal Unit or Labour and Delivery), Surgical and Oncology (PACU, Ortho/Sarcoma, Inflammatory Bowel/Surgical, Surgical Oncology or Orthopaedics, ENT, Oral Surgery, Opthalmology), and Urgent and Critical Care (Emergency, Psychiatry, General Medicine and Cardiology, and Intensive Care). You'll witness diverse patient populations, observe specialized procedures, and gain a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and rewards each area offers. This exploration will be instrumental in helping you determine the path that best aligns with your interests and long-term career aspirations.
