About The Position

Carewest is seeking passionate helpers to join their team as Nursing Attendants. This specific role is a Temporary Part Time position at George Boyack, Complex Continuing Care (4th Floor), with a term ending July 31, 2026. The Health Care Aide (HCA) reports to the Director of Care and is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team. The HCA provides ongoing client care, observes, monitors, and reports on client status and changes in physical and emotional status to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). A key responsibility includes delivering prescribed medications accurately according to policy. The role requires maintaining professional and ethical standards in line with Carewest's policies and Frame of Reference. The Complex Care program serves frail seniors requiring an interdisciplinary team to maintain and improve their quality of life in safe, comfortable, and supportive environments, with both secured and unsecured units available.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required.
  • Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.
  • Active and current registration with CLHA required.

Responsibilities

  • Observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status.
  • Ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure.
  • Maintains professional and ethical standards at all times.
  • Responsible for other related duties as required.
