Nursing Attendant - Progressive Care Unit/PCU - Part Time Night + Rotating Weekends & Holidays
About The Position
The Nursing Attendant provides compassionate, patient-focused care in the Progressive Care Unit at NYP/Queens Hospital, working under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role supports nurses, ICU technicians, patients, and families, and helps maintain a safe, clean, and healthy care environment. Duties include monitoring and recording patients’ vital signs, helping deliver meals, and safely transporting patients, while contributing to a welcoming and supportive patient experience. This is a part-time night position scheduled for 21.75 hours per week, from 11 PM to 7 AM. Rotating weekends and holidays are required. New hires must complete a mandatory two-week orientation, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM. The role requires on-site presence, and employees must live within a commutable distance to NYP; travel expenses are not reimbursed.
Requirements
- Previous nurse’s aide experience or equivalent experience in a hospital setting; or certification from an approved, accredited Nurse Aid training program; or current enrollment in a BSN nursing program at the junior-year level or completion of at least one clinical practicum.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to complete a mandatory two-week orientation, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM.
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work on-site and live within a commutable distance to NYP.
Responsibilities

- Help ensure delivery of meals and safe transport of patients.
