About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Southeast Ohio is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Nursing Assistants provide compassionate care to patients during vulnerable periods of their recovery. The position is per diem/PRN, with 12-hour night shifts, at the Newark campus of Licking Memorial Hospital, and pays $22 per hour.

The hospital provides an extensive orientation program to support a smooth transition into the setting. Strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may be eligible for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year, and part-time employees are offered an employee assistance program.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or relevant work experience of at least 3 years.
• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, nursing assistant certification, or experience in a related field such as medical assistant.
• BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including bathing with basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to and from treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters with moving patients into and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
• Keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
