About The Position

The Nursing Assistant works on the 4 North MS team at Garnet Health Medical Center-Middletown. The role performs assigned patient-care tasks and related unit duties as defined and delegated under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed Professional Nurse. The position involves direct contact with patients in varied circumstances and may include exposure to unpleasant patient elements and unpredictable situations.

Requirements

Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent preparation and/or experience.
Current and ongoing BLS certification.
Internal Crisis Intervention training.
Ability to pass a pre-hire physical assessment.
Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
Critical-thinking and analytical skills, flexibility, and ability to multitask.
Ability to pay detailed attention to work in an environment with uncontrolled interruptions and sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
Physical ability to perform the full anatomical range of motion needed for tasks; visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment; ability to tolerate prolonged sitting, standing, or walking; and ability to lift 10 pounds.
Ability to lift, position, push, and/or transfer patients, and to perform considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

Nice To Haves

High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
One year of prior acute-care experience, or CNA certification, or completion of the first clinical course in an RN/LPN program.
CNA certificate, particularly if experience is minimal.

Responsibilities
