The Nursing Assistant works on a 64-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit serving patients with orthopedic, neurological, and complex medical or surgical conditions that affect functional ability. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across the seven-day week, and nursing staff continue interventions practiced in therapy to support safe mobility and progress toward returning home. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant provides care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy. The role also includes transporting patients, providing observation services to maximize patient safety, completing documentation in the electronic medical record, and performing receptionist and clerical duties that support efficient nursing-unit operations. The position is based at Royal Oak Hospital, a major academic and referral center with adult Level I and pediatric Level II trauma designations. The schedule is full-time, 36 hours per week, on the night shift from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with variable workdays and every-third-weekend coverage.
