About The Position

The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to patients and supports their safety, comfort, and well-being under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, with possible guidance from an LPN. Duties vary by patient care unit or department and may include personal hygiene, nutrition, comfort care, assistance with transfers, taking vital signs, recordkeeping, reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment that promotes healing. The role works within its scope to meet Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory and accrediting requirements. This position is in Pediatrics/NICU at Essentia Health.

Requirements

If not already a Certified Nursing Assistant, register as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within three months of employment.
BLS certification is required within three months after hire.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, or ability to become certified within one month of hire.

Nice To Haves

Certified Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care and support patient safety and comfort under clinical supervision.
Provide personal hygiene care and assist with patients' nutritional needs.
Provide comfort care and other assistance.
Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients to promote healing.
Work within job scope to meet Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting requirements.
