The Nursing Assistant provides general patient care, including activities of daily living (ADLs), vital-sign monitoring as ordered by a provider, and other tasks delegated by licensed nursing staff. The role communicates patient needs and assigned duties to nurses, documents care accurately and promptly in the medical record, keeps patient-care areas stocked, and supports patient and staff safety. The Nursing Assistant provides bedside shift reports, participates in shared governance, and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to support patient-centered, holistic care. The position includes handling biological specimens and biohazardous waste, following infection-control and transmission-based precautions, and helping ensure patient-care environments meet applicable standards. Regular attendance at the assigned work location is required. The role reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and has no management responsibilities. Work involves substantial patient-care activity, frequent patient transfers, walking and positioning, and may require squatting, kneeling, or crawling. It also involves moving commodes, wheelchairs, and hospital beds, with lifting and additional assistance or mechanical lifts used as appropriate. The role may expose the employee to chemicals, other patient-care hazards, body substances, and contaminated surfaces; appropriate safety precautions and protective equipment must be used.
