The Nursing Assistant assists with patient care throughout nursing areas under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. The role includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, documenting services rendered, and functioning as an observer for patients assessed as requiring constant observation to help maximize their safety. The Nursing Assistant also performs receptionist and clerical duties to support efficient nursing-unit operations and must understand each patient’s condition to help ensure appropriate care and safety. The position is in the Emergency Department and is budgeted for 24 hours per week on day shifts. The schedule includes every other weekend and rotating holidays. Compensation is $19.10–$27.30 per hour. Prior Nursing Assistant experience in an acute-care or hospital setting is required; Emergency Department experience is strongly preferred. The role includes observing, obtaining, and reporting patient data to the assigned RN; responding to changes in acuity and emergencies as directed; maintaining BLS certification; and supporting new employees as a preceptor. The Nursing Assistant is expected to contribute to patient and staff safety, follow applicable clinical, privacy, security, and compliance policies, use required department software, and provide respectful, culturally aware, patient- and family-centered care.
