About The Position
We are seeking a Medical-Surgical Nursing Assistant, also referred to as a Med-Surg Nursing Assistant. The Med-Surg Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. They play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery.
Requirements
- Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
- Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate or obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain current.
Nice To Haves
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate.
- Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physicians office.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care, including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Assist patients with mobility, including getting in and out of bed, walking, or using assistive devices.
- Ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning, and alert registered nurses to any alarms.
- Observe patients for any physical changes, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, or altered mental status, and quickly notify nursing staff.
