About The Position

The Nursing Assistant provides patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, dispatching services, and appropriately documenting services. The Nursing Assistant may serve as an Observer for patients assessed to need constant observation, either in person or through remote video monitoring, to help maximize patient safety. The position also performs receptionist and clerical duties to support efficient nursing-unit operations and documents care in the electronic medical record.

The role is on 5 North, a 38-bed unit caring for medical, surgical, and chronically ill patients. The unit specializes in diabetes care, including insulin drips, and renal failure care, including Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis. It can accommodate patients requiring remotely monitored telemetry and oximetry. Patient-to-nurse ratios are adjusted based on acuity.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
• Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate Corewell customer service standards and behaviors in all aspects of job performance.

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospital or nursing home experience.
• Current CNA certification.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Basic computer knowledge.
