About The Position

The Nursing Assistant works part-time on the night shift in the 21-bed 2A medical/surgical ICU, which serves high-acuity medical ICU patients. The unit cares for patients with cardiac interventions, SARS, cardiogenic shock, Rotoprone care needs, postpartum critical care needs, and other complex ICU needs, most of which involve a medical or cardiac diagnosis. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or another licensed care team member, the Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and related support by performing selected nursing procedures and routine duties to assist medical and nursing personnel in examining, treating, and caring for patients.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of the first year of a nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
Basic Life Support certification; applicants who do not already have it must provide proof of completion within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, toileting, feeding, and positioning.
Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, weights, specimens, and other patient data.
Perform delegated clinical procedures such as blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and venipuncture.
Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and procedures.
Perform clerical and unit coordination duties, including maintaining patient charts and physician orders.
Maintain supplies and equipment and help maintain a safe patient care environment.
Respond to patient needs and emergency situations while providing compassionate, respectful care.
