This 48-bed unit is dedicated to ortho/neuro/trauma. Some specific diagnoses include total knee, total hip, spinal fusions, and fractured hips. The unit is Stroke and Trauma certified and completes additional education every three months to better care for this population of patients. The multidisciplinary team includes RN’s, nurse techs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, PT/OT, orthopedic care coordinator and case managers. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4-6 and the Nurse Assistant ratio is 1:8-10. Farmington Hills Hospital is recognized by U.S News and World Report as one of the nation’s high-performing facilities for multiple procedures and conditions and has been recognized as a Magnet-designated hospital for nursing excellence. This hospital has grown in size and capabilities over the decades to become a Level II trauma center, serving the community since 1965. It also serves as the base teaching hospital for Michigan State University.
