About The Position

The PRN Day Nursing Assistant at High Point Medical Center, 6 North Ortho Urology, is a part-time position responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This role involves performing special procedures, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, ensuring accurate communication of patient information, and providing age-appropriate care. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including a requirement to work three shifts within a six-week schedule period. The work environment involves contact with patients, family, and staff, with regular exposure to infectious diseases and potential exposure to radiation and cleaning chemicals. Use of personal protective equipment is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of a applicable state State Approved Nurse Aide I course required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Performs effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Performs special procedures correctly under the direction of Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility.
  • Ensures complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
  • Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
  • Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
