The Nursing Assistant works in a 64-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit serving patients with orthopedic, neurological, traumatic, cancer-related, and other complex medical or surgical conditions involving functional decline. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across a seven-day week, and nursing staff continue interventions practiced in therapy to support safe mobility and patients’ progress toward returning home. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant provides care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy. The role also includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, providing dispatch services and documenting services, serving as an observer for patients who require constant observation, performing receptionist and clerical duties, and documenting care in the electronic medical record. This is a part-time night-shift role at Royal Oak Hospital, with variable workdays and every third weekend.
