About The Position
Nursing Assistants work closely with nurses to provide excellent direct patient care, support patients with activities of daily living, and help prevent complications. The role is onsite in the intensive care unit at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York. It is part-time, with two 12-hour night shifts per week from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.; every other weekend and holidays are assigned. Mandatory orientation is one full week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., before starting work on the unit. No travel is expected.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- BLS; training will be provided if needed.
Nice To Haves
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA).
- Previous patient care experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including toileting, ambulating, repositioning, monitoring and recording fluid intake and output, recording patient weight, and obtaining vital signs.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in a patient's condition to the RN.
- Reinforce patient education, including use of an incentive spirometer and fall prevention.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient bedside area to support a safe workspace.
- Intentionally round on each patient every hour.
