Nursing Assistant Short Stay Unit
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant performs designated tasks in the provision of age-appropriate care for patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The position is in the Short Stay Unit and is full-time, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Responsibilities include obtaining and documenting reported height and weighing patients on admission, turning and positioning patients every two hours as indicated using proper body mechanics, and assisting with ordered activity and ambulation. The Nursing Assistant also helps patients with personal hygiene and accurately records vital signs within established time frames. Consistent hourly rounds are performed to promote patient safety and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
- Six months of experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document reported height and weigh patients on admission; document the information.
- Turn and position patients every two hours as indicated, using proper body mechanics.
- Assist with and promote activity, ambulation, getting up in a chair, and other activities as ordered.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, including showering, bathing, shaving, shampooing, perianal care, catheter care, and oral care.
- Take and accurately record vital signs within established time frames.
- Perform hourly rounds consistently to ensure patient safety and promote customer satisfaction.
