Nursing Assistant Short Stay Unit
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant performs designated tasks in the provision of age-appropriate care for patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position is in the Short Stay Unit and is full-time, with a 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. schedule. The Nursing Assistant obtains and documents reported height and weighs patients on admission, turns and positions patients every two hours as indicated using proper body mechanics, and assists with activity and ambulation as ordered. The role also includes helping patients with personal hygiene and accurately recording vital signs within established time frames. The Nursing Assistant performs hourly rounds to help ensure patient safety and promote customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
- Six months of experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document reported height and weigh patients on admission, documenting the results.
- Turn and position patients every two hours as indicated, using proper body mechanics.
- Assist and promote activity, ambulation, getting patients up in a chair, and other activities as ordered.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, including showering, bathing, shaving, shampooing, perianal care, catheter care, and oral care.
- Take and accurately record vital signs within established time frames.
- Perform hourly rounds to ensure patient safety and promote customer satisfaction.
