About The Position

The Nursing Assistant works on 6A, a 23-bed post-interventional telemetry unit that primarily serves patients following cardiac catheterization, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures. Staff receive specialized training in post-catheterization care, femoral sheaths, and Tikosyn. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or another licensed care team member, the Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and related support by performing selected nursing procedures and routine duties to assist medical and nursing personnel in examining, treating, and caring for patients.

This is a full-time night-shift position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completion of the first year of a nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
• Basic Life Support certification; applicants who do not already have it have 30 days from their hire date to provide proof of completion.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, toileting, feeding, and positioning.
• Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, weights, specimens, and other patient data.
• Perform delegated clinical procedures such as blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and venipuncture.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and procedures.
• Perform clerical and unit coordination duties, including handling patient charts and physician orders.
• Maintain supplies and equipment and help maintain a safe patient care environment.
• Respond to patient needs and emergency situations while providing compassionate, respectful care.
