About The Position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to patients during scheduled work periods, providing patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The role is on a 50-bed Medical-Surgical unit offering varied patient experiences, hands-on learning, and a supportive team environment. Shift options include 8- or 12-hour shifts; this posting specifies 12-hour rotating shifts.

Requirements

• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
• If working in North Dakota without CNA certification, be listed on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry after training and competency validation or within four months of initial employment.
• If working in Wisconsin, be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility, or be an eligible student nurse enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED); preferred but not required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic health care needs and daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation, and dining needs.
• Support patients' emotional and spiritual needs.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
• Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Prepare patient treatment areas and medical equipment for use.
• Clean medical equipment and dispose of biomedical waste according to standards and policy.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe care.
