About The Position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver during the scheduled work period, providing patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The position is on a 50-bed Medical-Surgical unit that offers a variety of patient experiences, hands-on learning, and a supportive team environment. The role includes 12-hour rotating shifts, with every third weekend and holiday rotation.

Requirements

• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
• If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry after training and competency validation or within four months of initial employment.
• If working in Wisconsin, be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility, or be a student nurse enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic health care needs and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation, and dining needs.
• Support patients' emotional and spiritual needs.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
• Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; and dispose of biomedical waste according to standards and policy.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe care provision.
