The IMC unit at Trenton is a 24-bed unit classified as a Critical Care-Telemetry unit with a focus on cardiac patients. Common illnesses treated include NSTEMI, post cardiac catheterization, COPD, Pneumonia, and CHF, though a variety of other illnesses are also seen. The unit has a focus on shared governance through monthly Unit Council meetings. The typical RN to patient ratio is 3-4:1 and the NA to patient ratio is a maximum of 12:1. Trenton Hospital is a Magnet®-designated facility providing comprehensive medical and surgical care, recognized for Health and Clinical Outcomes, and home to nine university affiliated residency programs. It features a Level II trauma center with nationally recognized heart, vascular, and pulmonary specialties, as well as orthopedics, neurosurgery, and women’s health.
