About The Position

The Nursing Assistant performs designated tasks to provide age-appropriate care for patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This is a full-time position on the Progressive Care Unit, working 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The role also requires covering Unit Secretary duties and completing cross-training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential preferred.
• Six months of experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document reported height and weigh patients on admission, documenting the results.
• Turn and position patients every two hours as indicated, using proper body mechanics.
• Assist and promote activity, ambulation, getting patients up in chairs, and other activities as ordered.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene, including showering, bathing, shaving, shampooing, perianal care, catheter care, and oral care.
• Take and accurately record vital signs within the established time frame.
• Perform hourly rounds to ensure patient safety and promote customer satisfaction.
• Cover duties as a Unit Secretary and undergo cross-training.
