About The Position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to patients during scheduled work periods and provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The position is on a 50-bed Medical-Surgical unit with a variety of patient experiences and a supportive team environment that offers learning and growth opportunities. The schedule is 12-hour night shifts, 36 scheduled hours per week, with every third weekend and holiday rotation.

Requirements

Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
For positions in North Dakota or Minnesota, if not a Certified Nursing Assistant, be listed on the applicable state Nursing Assistant Registry within four months of hire.
For positions in Wisconsin, be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility, or be a student nurse enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with basic health care needs and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation, and dining needs.
Support patients' emotional and spiritual needs.
Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; and dispose of biomedical waste according to standards and policy.
Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe care.
