About The Position

Sanford Health is hiring a Nursing Assistant for a 50-bed Medical-Surgical inpatient unit. The Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver during scheduled work periods, providing patient-centered nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The role offers hands-on experience, a supportive team environment, and opportunities to develop clinical skills and knowledge. The schedule is 12-hour night shifts, totaling 36 scheduled hours per week, with every third weekend and holiday rotation. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
• In North Dakota or Minnesota, if not a Certified Nursing Assistant, be listed on the applicable Nursing Assistant registry within four months of hire.
• In Wisconsin, be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility, or be a student nurse enrolled at a Wisconsin Board of Nursing-approved school who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with basic health care needs and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation, and dining needs.
• Support patients’ emotional and spiritual needs.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
• Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Prepare patient treatment areas and medical equipment for use; clean equipment and dispose of biomedical waste according to standards and policy.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe care.
